Tim Bowers, known to the music world as DJ Rootz, has been moving crowds since 2000 with a sound rooted in the golden era of hip-hop, reggae, soul, and funk. With over 25 years behind the decks and a personal collection of more than 10,000 vinyl records, DJ Rootz brings a rare depth and authenticity to every set — whether he’s spinning all-vinyl or going digital.

A Boulder Colorado staple, DJ Rootz built his reputation in the early 2000s holding down regular nights at some of the city’s most beloved venues, including Round Midnight, Soma, Trilogy, Baccaro, and The Foundry. His mastery of the craft eventually took him to legendary stages across the United States, including the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre, The Warfield, The Tabernacle and the world-renowned Jam Cruise — and on tour alongside some of the biggest names in electronic and live music, including Diplo, Pretty Lights, STS9, and Bassnectar.

DJ Rootz is obsessive and entranced by his attention to curation. Every set is thoughtfully crafted and finely tuned — not just a playlist, but a journey. He’s the DJ who knows exactly when to drop that record, and the crowd always knows it. A legend with the old school faithful in Boulder and beyond, DJ Rootz delivers an experience that is equal parts nostalgia and energy.
